How soon can the funeral take place?
Whilst there is no restriction on how long after the death a funeral should take place, it’s best to allow 5-10 days for a cremation service. A burial can take place within 24 hours. However, most people arrange the service for 3-5 days after the death.
It’s not uncommon to arrange the funeral for up to 6 weeks later, particularly if family members or friends need to travel long distances.
